Neurodivergent Women
Neuroaffirming/Gender Queer-affirming therapy for Women with ADHD and Autism.
Neurodivergence in women is often misunderstood, underdiagnosed, or misinterpreted due to the ways it manifests differently than in men across the lifespan. Much of the existing research and support systems treat neurodivergence as a static way of being, a fixed set of deficits and strengths. But neurodivergence is as an interplay of strengths and challenges that are affected by major life transitions like starting school, hormonal changes such as perimenopause/menopause, becoming a parent, new relationships, etc.
Neurodivergent women face unique challenges and opportunities as they navigate major life transitions.
Growing up with a neurodivergent brain can leave you feeling misunderstood and alienated. You might feel like you don’t fit in and struggle to follow unspoken social rules. Maybe you’ve spent so much energy masking that you don’t know who you truly are. You might be asking “What’s wrong with me?” It’s time for a therapist who really gets you. As a neurodivergent therapist, I love working with neurodivergent women. Whether you’re late diagnosed, newly questioning, or ready to better understand that diagnosis you got in childhood, I’m here to help!
I work from a neurodiversity-affirming perspective, which understands autism, ADHD, sensory processing disorder, and other forms of neurodivergence as normal variations in how our brains are wired. I’m not here to “fix” your neurodivergence or make you fit into a neurotypical world. Instead, we’ll work together to explore how your brain works, support your nervous system, and tailor your environment to fit your sensory needs.
